this is only another reason for her to add to her list of 'things she hates about house saffron.' (but desperate times call for desperate measures, and she knows her mother and grandmother are nothing if not ambitious.)

(... idealistically so.)

phuong sits in the common room as she was requested to do, masking her malcontent with this entire situation (not to mention the man who is to be her -- dare she say it -- husband) with impeccable posture and a perfectly subdued expression.

it's time to formally meet this infamous fiance of hers.

clad in clothing he had never worn before in his life, he was genuinely excited as he quivered in the seat he was assigned to. a voice had told him - rather firmly - to sit, and therefore he thought it was in his best interests to remain seated. however, his excitement was hard to mask. someone new was coming to see him, he was told. he craned his neck to try to see around the bend. who was this strange person who was to meet him?

he suddenly felt the effect of time upon him; there was a dreadfully long time to wait until this person stepped into his room. he wanted to ask how long it would be until it happened. on occasions, time flew, but this time, it dragged on in plodding, hesitant steps. how perplexing. how interesting.

he blinked curiously before slowly standing up from his chair. he twisted his gaze around the room. no one stopped him. he took a tentative step, then another -- and he was running out of the room, the surroundings a blur to him --

he paused. who was this strange person seated in the common room? his face scrunched in confusion, he turned around to face one of the maids, ignorant of the aghast look on her face: "who is this?"

arms crossed before his chest and mouth frowning, he eyed the prim woman in the wake of the housemaid's incapability to answer.
