Assets

Assets are an abstract representation of a house's resources. Assets work like health. They have a full value, and then a current value that can be depleted or added onto throughout a book. Your current value may be higher than your full value.

At the end of every book, your assets will be adjusted to reflect your house's actions (or inactions!). As a general rule, high resource assets generate higher power assets. However, there's also common sense adjustments. If a house's People asset hugely outstrips their Food asset, then you can bet Morale will plummet.

Asset points can be exchanged or gifted between houses, subject to mod approval. Assets may also be contested in battles. Typically the winning side takes a point or two from the losing house, but land may be ravaged or soldiers may be lost with nothing won for either side.

Some assets are locked. This means that other houses can't possess them. They can't be given, taken, or traded. They may still be spent as usual.

The assets system is in a beta. Please don't hesitate to give feedback! We'll consider adjusting a house's asset values, what their unique assets are, or other details that just don't work out in practice.

Common Assets
There are three power assets. Power assets can be spent to create certain effects.

WEALTH. Money--cold hard cash. A house may spend one wealth point to replenish one lost asset point.

INFLUENCE. The power to throw your weight around. A house may spend one influence point to deduct any one asset point from another house.

MORALE. The happiness of the people. A house may spend one morale point to restore one of their assets back to full. Locked assets cannot be restored. Locked.

There are six resource assets. Resource assets are collected to gain higher power assets next book.

ARMY. The number of mooks the house commands. More army means more influence in the next book.

LAND. A combination of both a house's amount of land and quality of land. More land means more wealth in the next book.

PEOPLE. The number of people that feed the house tax money and goods. More people means more influence next book.

FOOD. House's ability to keep their people from starving to death. More food means more morale in the next book.

TECH. The house's technical advancements in science, engineering, and medicine. More tech means more wealth in the next book.

CULTURE. Art, music, literature, religion, the trademarks of civilization. More culture means more morale in the next book.

Examples

EXAMPLE 1. House Nimbasa may be given two points of House Mistralton's Aviation. They may use Aviation as they see fit throughout the book as long as they retain the asset, but once the book ends, it's assumed that the planes fall into disrepair or are otherwise consumed. If they want planes again, they'll have to trade with Mistralton again.

EXAMPLE 2. Following the above, should Mistralton be dumb enough to sell, trade, lose, or otherwise end up with an Aviation of 0, they don't have planes anymore. They can spend wealth or morale to restore their Aviation, or they'll have to trade for it back--or go to war to reclaim their planes.

EXAMPLE 3. Suppose Saffron really wants some planes, and Mistralton isn't willing to gift or trade. Saffron may attack Mistralton with the war system to attempt to steal some planes. Depending on how the battle goes down, they may succeed in winning a point of Aviation. When the book ends, Saffron loses their point of Aviation, although their Tech score may increase to reflect their study of it.
